What's New at specsandcodes.com?

  • The Latest Code Corner Article Now Available; Plus, It Has a New Look!  After a long delay, the latest Code Corner article is now available for download.  The topic this time is on Fire Areas; something new to most users of the IBC.  Additionally, the article has a new format, and includes graphics to complement the text!  Click here to download the new article.

  • Specsandcodes now has a blog!  Provided by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the blog will contain articles on specifications and building codes, which are open for reader comment online.  To access the blog, click here or click "Specsandcodes - The Blog" in the navigation bar to the left.

  • Revised Code Corner Article!  We all make mistakes and a reader discovered an error in the Code Corner No. 19 article on calculating fire resistance.  The reader correctly pointed out that the sum of fire resistance times for wood assemblies cannot include the time for the membrane on the unexposed side of the wall assembly (not exposed to the fire).  Click here to download the revised article.

  • Ron Geren Selected for MASTERSPEC Committee:   Ron Geren, Principal of RLGA Technical Services, will fill one of six positions on the master guide specification's review committee.  Read more...
